Territory

St. Albert is an available franchise territory. It is a new studio opportunity: you would open a Studio Kiku studio here, rather than buy one that is already operating.
Each territory is laid out in the franchise agreement, and it will vary depending on location.
A studio in St. Albert also draws from northwest Edmonton. The two cities share a boundary along St. Albert's south and east sides, Edmonton's northwest neighbourhoods begin at that line, and downtown Edmonton is about 15 km away. The north and west sides of Edmonton, from Castle Downs and Griesbach to West Edmonton Mall, are within a 30 to 40 minute drive.
No Studio Kiku location operates in Alberta yet.

Alberta
Opening in Alberta means, among other things:
- Register the business in Alberta and register for GST. Alberta has no provincial sales tax
- Register the laser before it is used: Alberta's OHS Code requires a registration certificate for Class 3B and Class 4 lasers
- Open a WCB-Alberta account within 15 days of hiring your first worker
- Check the city's zoning, business licence and permit rules for the space before you sign the lease
Alberta's Franchises Act requires that you receive the disclosure document at least 14 days before you sign the franchise agreement or pay anything toward it.
Site
You find the location and sign the lease, once we've approved both the site and the lease. To be approved, the site should be a visible retail space with easily accessible parking.
In St. Albert, look first at St. Albert Trail. The City's own plan says its businesses and jobs are concentrated along the Trail and downtown, and the Trail is the arterial road between St. Albert and Edmonton.
The studio needs a reception desk, a waiting area, an accessible washroom and a laser room of at least 16 by 12 feet. See what opening a studio involves, along with training and support after you open.
