Plenty of people carry a tattoo they have stopped liking for years before they ask anyone a single question about removing it. The questions tend to pile up quietly: how many sessions, how much it hurts, whether the skin comes back clean. On Sunday, October 18, the Vaughan team is setting an entire evening aside for exactly those questions.
Studio Kiku Vaughan is celebrating its grand opening at 3255 Rutherford Road, Unit 21, in Concord, from 5 to 9 PM. The studio has been treating clients on Rutherford Road since the summer, so this is a celebration rather than a first day. Sunday is normally a closed day at that studio, which makes the evening a genuine one-off.
An open evening on Rutherford Road
The doors are open from 5 until 9, the evening is free to attend, and nobody needs an appointment to walk in. Members of the Vaughan team will be doing consultations right through the night, so anyone who wants a real answer about their own tattoo or permanent makeup can get one on the spot. Grand opening package pricing is available that evening only, there are free giveaways, and there will be drinks and light bites.
An RSVP helps the team plan numbers, and the details and RSVP form sit on the Vaughan studio page.
What the Vaughan team can tell you in one sitting
A consultation is a conversation with the tattoo in front of them. The technician looks at the pigment, the depth, the placement and the skin it sits in, goes through your health history, explains what the PicoWay does to pigment, and gives you an estimated session range with a price attached to it.
Those numbers are usually what people came for. A dark, saturated body tattoo commonly takes nine to 12 sessions to clear completely, and sessions are spaced a minimum of 8 weeks apart because the body needs that time to carry away what the laser broke up. Laser tattoo removal starts at $100 per session, and the Complete Removal Package is one flat rate that covers as many sessions as the tattoo takes. Every tattoo is quoted on a case-by-case basis, which is why the in-person look matters more than any figure on a website.
"Every single day we wanna make sure that all of our clients know what to expect before they get it done. We don't like surprising anybody," says Billy DeCola, Studio Kiku founder.
Permanent makeup questions are welcome too
The Vaughan studio also handles PMU removal for brows, lip blush and faux freckles, and cosmetic pigment behaves differently from body work. Brows commonly take three to six sessions to clear, and lip blush often two to three, so the arc is far shorter than a body tattoo.
The catch is the formula. Dark pigment lifts first and leaves the undertone behind, yellow is the hardest colour to shift, and lip pigment containing white may not clear with laser at all. Those are the cases where an in-person look changes the answer, and the evening is a low-stakes way to get it.
No laser work happens on the night
Nobody gets treated at the grand opening. The lasers stay off, the evening is consultations and conversation, and anyone who decides to go ahead books a session for another day. That is deliberate, not a limitation of the venue: a first treatment follows a proper intake, a review of your medical history and written pre-care instructions.
An estimated range is also an estimate. Complete removal is never guaranteed, white and light pigments such as white, light blue and pink may not fully clear, and a cover-up or a tattoo with existing scar tissue takes longer and can hold something back. If you were lasered somewhere else recently, or the tattoo is newer than 12 weeks, mention it that night so the plan matches your skin rather than an average.
Finding the studio in Concord
The address reads Concord, which is a community inside the city of Vaughan, and the studio sits on Rutherford Road beside Vaughan Mills. It serves Vaughan, Concord, Toronto, Markham, Richmond Hill, Brampton and the wider Greater Toronto Area. Regular hours are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 10 to 6 and Saturday from 10 to 4.
If October 18 doesn't suit you
Consultations at Studio Kiku are free every week of the year, not only on an opening night, and nothing about one commits you to booking a session. If Sunday evening is awkward, pick a weekday that isn't and book a free consultation in Vancouver, Langley or Vaughan instead.
Thanks for reading.
