Victoria is the capital of British Columbia and the centre southern Vancouver Island comes to for anything it cannot get closer to home. The provincial government is the largest employer in the city, tourism brought about five million visits and $1.9 billion in spending in 2023, and the tech sector has grown to more than 20,000 people across 1,170 firms. UVic and Camosun add roughly 40,000 students.

The city also skews notably older than most Canadian metros, with 23% of residents over 65 and the highest share of people over 80 of any large Canadian city. That matters for removal work, because sun-damaged and thinner mature skin needs a gentler protocol and more patience between sessions than a twenty-five-year-old forearm does.

The real argument for a studio here is the water. Getting to the mainland means the ferry, and the crossing alone is an hour and thirty-five minutes before you add the drive to Swartz Bay, the check-in window and the drive into Vancouver at the other end. Realistically that is three and a half to four and a half hours each way. Across the eight or ten appointments a full removal takes, that is thirty hours of travel and several hundred dollars in fares before treatment is paid for. The province runs dedicated medical travel and assured loading programs precisely because that friction is real.
