Lip blush and lip liner permanent makeup tattoos can reshape the lips and create the appearance of fuller, more vibrant colour. For many reasons, and we've heard them all, clients eventually decide to remove the pigment.

Laser treatment with the PicoWay at Studio Kiku is safer and more effective than manual methods like saline for most lip pigments.

Signature Technique

As lip blush tattoos become more mainstream, it's also more common for our clients to request help with lightening, adjusting, or completely removing a less-than-satisfactory lip blush job.

Using the PicoWay, a true picosecond laser by Candela, Studio Kiku has developed a technique that gently breaks down the pigment, allowing the body to flush it out.

Avoiding Oxidation

The number one concern our clients have when considering laser tattoo removal for lip blush is the chance of the pigment oxidizing. Our signature technique greatly reduces that risk.

We've had great success removing lip blush without permanent oxidation. That said, we always recommend doing a test spot before proceeding with the full treatment.

I have had a few sessions at Studio Kiku Langley to have some permanent makeup removed. The space is clean, modern, and very welcoming. Despite being heavily tattooed and working at a tattoo studio, I was very apprehensive about getting laser treatment. I'm so happy I went through with it at Studio Kiku with Billy. I had my brows microbladed 6 years ago and desperately needed to get them fixed. My brow row lady said it would be necessary to have the old pigment lasered away if I wanted to truly start fresh with better brows, so I decided to bite the bullet. I went for my first eyebrow PMU removal today and saw Billy. He's informative, gentle and did an amazing job telling me the possible risk of color being left once the treatment is done. It's super fast but he does it slow enough so you aren't in any pain. I'm so excited to go back for my second appointment in 6 weeks. PMU Removal FAQs

What our lip blush clients ask before booking.

Studio Kiku offers laser PMU removal at its studios: Vancouver (329 East Broadway), Langley (Willoughby Town Centre), and Vaughan (3255 Rutherford Road, next to Vaughan Mills). Each studio offers a free consultation.

Brow removal, $239 per session. Lip blush removal, $250 per session. Tattooed freckle removal, custom quote. Test spots are $50 and will be deducted from the cost of the procedure if you decide to go through with it. Three-session packages are $575 for brow removal and $600 for lip blush removal. GST is not included in the prices listed above.

Our clients normally see significant fading after 1-2 sessions. On average, brows take 3 to 6 sessions, lip blush 2 to 3, and faux freckles 2 to 6 for complete removal. Each client is different, however, and results vary from person to person.

Scarring risk is low when treatments are performed conservatively by trained technicians, but no laser procedure is completely risk-free. We prioritize skin integrity, realistic settings, aftercare, and proper spacing between sessions.

You'll most likely see results right away, but the real fading happens gradually over the course of 1-2 months after your first session.

PMU pigment often includes warm undertones that are left behind after being targeted by the laser. We aren't able to predict whether your PMU will turn colours or not during the process, but we can do a test spot which will normally be a good indication of what to expect.

The PicoWay can target most colours including red, orange and yellow. We've had great success removing warm tones. However, there have been cases where we aren't able to remove the pigment completely.

Yes, you may apply makeup to the treatment area after 12 hours.

Yes. You should discontinue products containing retinols (Retin-A, Differin, etc.), or irritating skin products on the treatment area(s) 10 days before treatment to avoid increased redness and irritation.

We recommend waiting at least 12 weeks after your PMU session before starting the removal process.

We recommend waiting at least 12 weeks after your last laser session to get new PMU tattooed again.

For best results we suggest waiting until the lamination / tinting has completely faded before getting laser removal.

Depending on your unique case it may be possible to laser only a portion. We charge flat rates for brow removal, whether it's a small spot or the entire surface area.

No. It's best to postpone laser treatments until after you have given birth and have completely stopped breastfeeding.

Yes, we recommend protecting the treatment area from the sun for two weeks before and after your laser session.

We suggest waiting a minimum of 8 weeks between sessions for best results.
