Lighten, adjust, or completely remove scalp micropigmentation without damaging hair or hair follicles.

PicoWay laser removing scalp micropigmentation at Studio Kiku

Adjust, Fade for Repair, or Fully Remove

The hairline is the most visible part of an SMP procedure. We're frequently asked to soften or reshape it, and our signature technique allows us to do so with little to no downtime.

The laser targets the pigment without damaging the hair follicles around it, and sessions are spaced a minimum of 8 weeks apart.

Countless Successful Treatments

As scalp micropigmentation has become more mainstream, requests to correct or remove unsatisfactory SMP have grown with it. Studio Kiku has performed countless SMP removal treatments using our signature technique and PicoWay laser technology.

Adjust the Hairline

Reshape or soften the most visible part of the procedure with little to no downtime.

Fade & Repair

Lighten existing SMP enough to be covered with a new, more subtle layer. Wait at least 12 weeks before re-tattooing.

Complete Removal

Multiple sessions spaced a minimum of 8 weeks apart. Safe and effective for all skin types.

Studio Kiku offers laser SMP removal at its studios in Vancouver, Langley, and Vaughan.

In Practice

These notes come from Billy's own experience in the treatment room, in his words on The Faded Podcast.

Why SMP Gets Removed

Billy sees heads that were oversaturated by an artist trying too hard to please, and hairlines that are simply off. Sometimes only the front needs to come out, and the hairline is redone.

Depth Decides How Hard It Is

A soft, well-done SMP job can come out in a single session. Deep, saturated pigment is very difficult, and in some cases even more difficult than a regular body tattoo.

Hidden Colours Can Show Up

Some artists warm up SMP pigment with other colours, so once the dark layer comes off, a red or yellow can be left behind. White pigment used to hide mistakes can't be removed, and it darkens under the laser.
